Hamlet: Significance
... was battling his inner demons, Claudius continued on his journey of sins, even though he had prayed to God for forgiveness in an attempt to repent his sins. “O! my offense is rank, it smells to heaven; It hath the/ Primal eldest curse upon’t;/ A brother’s murder. Pray can I not,/ Though inclination be as sharp as will:/ My stronger guilt defeats my strong intent .” (3.3. 37-41) However, he still had no intentions of making things right and wished to further carry out his plans as ruler of Denmark, even though he had many opportunities to re-establish the balance. He chose to continue on with his evil deeds, and by doing so, ended the lives of all the victims that ...

Death Of A Salesman Review
... From Ben, from Charley, from Bernard, all of who have achieved the financial success he longs for. If Willy could have accepted and made the most of his good qualities, he might not have struggled all his life to fit into the wrong mold. Note that Willy forced this mold not only onto himself but also onto his sons, causing them the same confusion over identity.
Willy Loman is a perfect example of someone who feels betrayed because he can't achieve the financial goal that society has conditioned him to strive for. He worships the goddess of success, but he doesn't have the talent or the temperament to be a salesman, his chosen career. When he fails as a salesman ...

Romeo & Juliet: Friar Lawrence Is Short-Sighted
... when he says "In one respect I'll
thy assistant be; for this alliance may so happy prove, to turn your
households rancour to pure love."(Act 2, Scene 3), he is saying that the
only reason he will marry Romeo and Juliet is because he hopes that the
marriage will end the hostilities between the two houses. When he says
"Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift, and hither shall he come; and
he and I shall watch thy waking, and that very night shall Romeo bear thee
to Mantua." (Act 4, Scene 1), he tells Juliet how everything will be all
right. Unfortunately, for all his good intentions the play still ends in
tragedy.
Friar Lawrence is a man who is not afraid to ta ...

Jurassic Park: Comparison Between Book And Movie
... be controlled. They find
this out when the security system goes out. They soon lost the electric fence
and the dinosaurs started to escape. They try to restore the power and are
successful but it did not matter since the dinosaurs were already loose.
The dinosaurs start to cause a lot of trouble, even with the power
restored. They determine that there is nothing they can do. They decide to
leave the island by helicopter.
The book is much different then the movie. The book goes in more detail
about the genetic engineering of the dinosaurs. The book also makes Ian
Malcolm's theory that nature can't be controlled nor predicted more valid. In
the end of th ...

Hamlet: Ophelia And Gertrude
... these two women shapes and brings life to
their characters and eventually bring s an end to their characters as well.
Gertrude is a kind and loving mother. The kind that guards after her son
through thick and through thin and loves unconditionally. Hamlet had suspected
her of aiding in the killing of King Hamlet. That will be discussed later.
Her character is the one character in the play that I believe does not
develop but rather stays identical to the scene in which she is introduced(Act I,
scene II). She is shown to be a quiet, "stand by your man" type individual who
is easily influenced.
This is my belief because in the second scene of the play, Hamlet is
s ...

Hamlet
... before my dad was very protective of my mother and she had no right to go and do this to him. Eventhough he has passed on, it doesn’t make it right that she showed so much disrespect for him. He didnt deserve that.
With my friends, I appreciate them telling me about their apparition of the ghost, because by them telling me this, it showed that they were looking out for me. As a result of them telling me, I found out the ghost was my father. He told me a lot of information about what happened to him before his death, and the details about his death. He told me that he was murdered by my Uncle Claudius, by means of poison in the ear. When I was talking with ...

LADY MACBETH IS WORSE THAN MACBETH
... that Macbeth is too nice to kill
the king, sayin that he "is too ful o' the milk of human kindness" and when
she hears the Duncan will visit their castle that night, she immediately
appeals to the evil spirits, to (ironically) give her the strength to kill
the king. In Act 1, Scene 7, Macbeth is doubtfull of Lady Macbeth's plot
to kill the king. He doesn't think that he will be able to live with the
guilt of killing his king while he is staying under his very roof, and then
decides that he will not kill the king. This shows that Macbeth is thinking
about what he is going to do, and shows that he does feel guilt and is
weighing up the situation, unlike Lady Macb ...

The Apostle
... guilty party. This seems to be a perfect example of a conversion by the grace of God. It is sudden, unexpected, and comes from someone who is not necessarily a model citizen.
The central figure of the film is a southern evangelical preacher, the self proclaimed "Apostle". In the beginning, this man is the picture of a stereotypical "Bible-belt" minister. He is loud, flamboyant, hypocritical, and uses his influence to become a pillar of the community. However, slowly loses everything he holds dear. He loses his wife to another man and loses his job at "his church". He then commits a heinous act which puts his wife's lover in the hospital and eventually kills ...

Oedipus' Journey For The Truth
... too. He wants to be a good king of Thebes and wants to be famous for saving the city from the plague as he did the sphinx. The connection between the play and information is that by gathering all the facts and evidence and understanding them, Oedipus can begin to solve the puzzle to saving the city from the plague.
Knowledge is the knowing and the understanding of the facts and information you have gathered. This knowledge will amount to something useful. Organized facts can be applied to the solution to the puzzle of truth. Oedipus’ second purpose to finding the truth is to find the killer of King Liaus. His motivations to finding the assassin is to pro ...

Dead Poets Society
... goes through with the
phone call all the way.
While he is talking, the camera is focused on his face and hand holding
the phone to his ear. When Knox hears the news that he has been invited to go
to a party with the girl of his dreams, his face lights up and he cant help but
smile. Still with the same angle, the camera swings around to show the faces of
his friends as he tells them his news. Their facial expressions as showed by
the camera are delightful and happy ones. This makes Knox even more happy.
The scene ends with a close up of Knox hanging up the phone and then a
high level shot of him running up the stairs.
Scene where Mr Keating tell the class to ...
