his theories on life and society prove to be very degrading, not to mention
influential to his mind set every day. Willy believes that being well-liked and
having a personal attractiveness, together, can bring success, money, and many
friends. Ironically, Willy does not have many friends and many people do not
like him. With a beauty unlike others, Willy thinks that doors will open and

Are Traditional Methods Of Rendering Obsolete Or Not
... that we now see has been altered or produced on the computer, any thing from photos that we see in magazines where people have been made to look better than they actually are to the surroundings in the news room on the six o'clock news.
The real question is 'Where dose this leave the traditional methods of rendering images and type?' I feel that in the next 10 years there will be a flood of traditional style and people will be crying out for the personal touch of a photographer using chemicals in a darkroom. The images produced will not necessarily look traditional but they will use the methods traditionally used to produce effects which can't be produced ...

The Preponderant Lysistrata
... is acting as the leader behind the entire operation, to find a common ground between all men to unite them in peace to end the war. All of the Spartan and Athenian men do have one strong tie in common that is highly important to them in this time period. This commonality is their sexual relationship with their wives. Lysistrata knows how important sex is to the men of all city-states. Without the women, the men “walk around the city bent over like men lighting matches in a wind” (726, 1028-9). Lysistrata uses her knowledge to gain power over them by summoning all of the women together and calling for “a sex-strike against war” (701). This “sex-strike” puts the men i ...

TV Violence: Impossible To Get Rid Of Violence On Television
... people think.
People will always think of violence. How could they of anything else?
Violence is everywhere, TV, Music, Movies, Video games, news, and newspaper.
You would have to ban all violence to stop people from thinking about it. TV is
not the only problem.
Is there too much TV violence, or is it just what people want to see?
In a recent survey, violent scenes in nonfictional shows went up 150% and in
fictional shows they went up 39%. The overall violence went up 41%.
What about the V-chip? The chip that would block out violence
and sex on TV. But is that offending people's freedom of speech? Who would
choose to use the V-chip? The governm ...

Romeo And Juliet: Night - Rejoice Or Rebel?
... bring in
cloudy night immediately. Spread thy close curtain..." (Shakespeare Act III
Scene ii:4-5) Juliet is very eager for night to come as she uses the word
"immediately," which is very strong and demanding. Her true love, Romeo, is
also associated with night. "Come, night, come Romeo, come thou day in night."
(Shakespeare Act III Scene ii:17)
Shakespeare uses night also as a time for exchanging of vows. "Lady, by
yonder, blessed moon I vow, That tips with silver all these fruit tree tops --
-". (Shakespeare Act II Scene ii:106-107) After Romeo's vow Juliet later
promises during the welcomed night to be loyal to him throughout his life.
Under the cloak ...

Oedipus Rex
... Oedipus’ patience in the beginning of the story with information he was withholding; “For you would rouse a very stone to wrath…” (pg. 13). This impatient accusing of Teiresias proved to be bad, especially since Teiresias foretold the ending of the story. If Oedipus had been more patient and waited, he might have not been quite so upset about the future, nor shaken up about what was to happen.
However, that one trait did not alone take away his position of high authority. Oedipus displayed anger throughout the whole story, which did not help him at all. During the story, we learn of Oedipus’ anger as he knocked a passerby at the meeting of the three highways; ...

Tragedy In Oedipus Rex
... Jocasta, his mother. We realize that these actions
have taken place much earlier in the story than the characters do. However,
both of these events actually took many years ago.
The fall from grace in Oedipus Rex is when Oedipus, Jocasta, and all the
other characters in the story realize that Oedipus actually did murder Laius
and that Jocasta is indeed his mother as well as his wife. This occurs rather
quickly, very close to the end of the play.
The audience sees this coming long before it actually does, however. In one
of the passages of Oedipus speaking with Jocasta, just about everything is
spelled out for us. Jocasta speaks of Laius leaving the castle ...

Raw Deal: Film Techniques
... emotional mood, and atmosphere. There are two different intensities of lighting, low-key lighting and high-key lighting. In the scene where Joe Sullivan escapes from prison, Pat is waiting in the car and all that you can see is her face, a result of low-key lighting. The use of this type of lighting is used to increase the intensity of the scene and define the mood. By directing their attention to Pat’s face, the audience can concentrate on her facial expressions and sense her fear. The direction of the light also plays a key role in creating a successful visual image. An example of this is the use of front-lighting and back-lighting in the scene on the b ...

Movie Analysis: Species And Species II
... while the agents try
to stop her. The acting is pretty good, especially at the death scenes.
The scenery looks like a real city, but it was shot in the country of
Montana. (Country meaning no cities, not a whole new country.) The camera
panning and zooming is very good, and the sound effects are right on cue.
Species set the standard for movies like SPECIES II, and it is a
really good movie. It actually gets funny, and except for one guy, the
acting is very well done. The only problem is that somewhere in the
Chicago city (where it was supposed to be based) they found a cave,
complete with stalectytes. It also contained a pool of acid, that caught
on fire f ...
