The United States And Immigration
... difference. This country is in need of a new policy that doesn’t allow just anyone to come here. We need to start an era of restrictions on the immigrants who come here. We can only begin to help the situation now, because it would take decades to solve a situation like this.
There is a quickly growing problem of overpopulation in this country. As the population grows at an insane rate, our free space is going to get much smaller. Not only is the population rising extremely fast, but also we are letting thousands of people into the country. The more people there are, the less room there is for everyone. We can’t continue to place everyone together as close a ...

Ecuador And Democracy
... the size of either New Zealand

America and is bordered by only two countries, Colombia to the north and Peru to
the south and east.
The estimated population of Ecuador in 1991 was 10,800,00. This is
approximately 10 times the number of Indian estimated to have been living in the
area at the time of the Spanish conquest. The population density of about 38
people per sq. km is the highest of any South American nation.
Like other Latin American countries, the major religion is Roman
Catholicism. Some of the older cities have splendid 16th and 17th-century

Being A Good Biologist
... hubris (Worf, Benjamin. 1940. Science & Linguistics). In this world, nothing has ever been rigorously proved. Often a scientist findings proposes an idea that may attack all cherished philosophical doctrines of what we know about science. Albert Einstien, popular among young scientists, was certainly not taken seriously as a ‘good physicist’ until the old scientist who rejected his theories had died (Sakimura, Jean. 1998. MCB41X Discussion). To Prove by using mathematical sense, is possible only if you have the luxury of defining the universe you operate in. A scientist should be able to evaluate, using a common definition, the fact based upon empirical evidence ...

The Law Enforcement Profession
... and hiring practices for police
officers. Organizational change occurs both as a result of internal and
external agents (Swanson, Territo and Taylor, p. 664). These changes have
manifested both positive and negative reverberations in the way we perform our
job.
Police officials have contemplated for years over the key to maintaining
a positive image for their organization. Unfortunately, several incidents in
the past years have altered society's perception of police in some communities.
Police in America are no longer strangers to innovation born of scandal. Law
enforcement agencies nationwide have repeatedly been shaken by controversy and
forced to make und ...

Mitchell V. Wisconsin: Why Mitchell V. Wisconsin Sucked
... the film, the group moved outside and
Mitchell asked if they felt "hyped up to move on some white people". When the
white boy approached Mitchell said, "You all want to fuck somebody up? There
goes a white boy, Go get him." The boy was left unconscious, and remained in
a coma for four days. Mitchell was convicted of aggravated battery, which
carries a two year maximum sentence. The Wisconsin jury, however, found that
because Mitchell selected his victim based on race, the penalty enhancement law
allowed Mitchell to be sentenced to up to seven years. The jury sentenced
Mitchell to four years, twice the maximum for the crime he committed without
the penalty enh ...

Abortion - Pro-Choice Views
... 10 minutes, and the mother experiences very little or no physical discomfort. Pro-lifers immediately say that emotional trauma and guilt haunts every woman after she has an abortion. However, during my research, I found numerous women who led (and continue to lead) prominent and scot-free lives after their abortions. I think that the mental state of the mother depends very much on her personal feelings toward abortion, and the actual experience the had before and during the abortion.
Pro-life propaganda
In my study of pro-lifers, I have found that most of the time, they employ the use of a few strategies for making their views known. One tactic pro-lifers use ...

The commands of must be those that the states impose upon themselves, as states must give consent to the commands that they will follow. It is a direct expression of raison d'etat, the "interests of the state", and aims to serve the state, as well as protect the state by giving its rights and duties. This is done through treaties and other consensual engagements which are legally binding.

Social Security In The Future? Maybe Not
... told us that they
couldn't solve the Social Security crisis almost 30 years ago I would have
prepared better. But instead they promised they could save it and the program
would still be aruond when I retired. They obviously lied and now I have
nothing. Moments later I hear music its my alarm clock. It was only a dream its
April 1996 and I'm 18. The article about the Social Security in the paper had
me thinking and I must have a bad dream.
The Presidential election will be coming up this November ‘96 and the
question that many of Americans have on their mind is what are you going to
about the Social Security crisis? This question has our nation divided ...

Metaphors That Justify War
... acceptance of and reliance upon the media for sensitive,
truthful, information brings a sense of security and knowledge of world affairs
that satisfies our internal push for social involvement (even if it is at the
point of acknowledgment only). We are happy with the knowledge because there is
no discernible contradictions and seldom question its relevancy, focus or
content. Then later, a contradictory report erupts in the media and we begin to
question even what we see. The short footage shown by the media concerning the
beating of Rodney King was out of context. Who is responsible for the
disparity? The media. They decide what we hear and see. They mani ...

Flag Desecration
... first to hid behind the first amendment (Freedom of Speech). For people to say they have the right to burn the American flag, sighting their first amendment rights, they have some kind of warped sense of expression. If people continue to desecrate the American flag, it will lose its significance and value. From 1968 to 1989, politicians and true red blooded Americans understood how important it was to respect the American flag. Congress passed a law in which it prohibited desecration of the American flag in 1968. According to the law, it was illegal to cast contempt, either by word or act upon the American flag ((Federal law, 18 USC Sec. 700 States, 1968); Sec. 2(a) ...
