You Must Have Rules To Be Free
... imagine if students didn't have
to go to school. Well, remember the kid in 8th grade always saying "I hate
school", well I guess you'd never see him there. You're probably thinking
that not all kids would stay home, and I agree but the majority of kids
would stay home a lot because they didn't feel like going, probably causing
them to miss a lot of important information. Causing them to fail.
Finally, Think about a sporting event you compete in or participate.
What would it be without rules? It wouldn't be anything. People could
get hurt if certain rules missing. Ever try playing football or soccer
without rules. It usually turns into a blood bath. But ...

Values
... most important thing in life. Your family will always be there when you
need them, and will love you no matter what you do. This is a great thing,
because it gives me security and comfort. I know that the decisions that I make
in life will be guided by people that care about the outcome, and if things
don't work out they'll be there to do whatever they can to help me. You never
have to put on a front with your relatives, they will almost always accept you
for who you are.
Another value that was influenced by my parents as well as television, is
friendship. Even though your family is always there for you, friends are still
very important to have. Havi ...

Same Sex Marriages
... “they shall be cut off from their among
their people.” Is it possible to say that these words that have provided strict
guidelines for all these years no longer have any meaning or promise because we
are no longer a people? Or is it right to think that we are adopted into the
family of God and are now apart of His people? Who decides? What if your
family isn't Christian, does the law of God apply to you? (God)
For years and years these were the words that nearly everyone followed.
Only people who were clearly wrong dared to disobey the word of God. It was
clearly black and white, and often times church leaders were looked to for
advice on what to do whe ...

Losing Someone You Love
... inner strengths and obtain help and information from others. Denial can be helpful way of dealing with a death without it having to hit you full in the face. In addition to or apart from denial, many people also tend to deal with great anxiety. Anxiety mobilizes and focuses energies needed for coping and changing attitudes and values. For the most part, one does not suffer from over-anxiety for too long and as a result, people rarely become trapped in a maelstrom of anxiety long enough to do any personal damage to themselves. That is not the case with depression. Depression over loss can be a serious problem. In a healthy context, depression enables a pers ...

Affirmative Action: Why It Should Go
... when the bill was first enacted, in 1965. At this time, the country was in the wake of nationwide civil-rights demonstrations, and racial tension was at an all time high. Most of the corporate executive and managerial positions were occupied by white males, who controlled the hiring and firing of employees. The U.S. government, in 1965, believed that these employers were discriminating against minorities and believed that there was no better time than the present to bring about change. This action, that started with good intentions, would later lead to a different and more complex form of discrimination.
When the Civil Rights Law passed, minorities, especially ...

Treating People Fairly Is A Right That Has Been Changed By Affirmative Action
... All races are created equal and should have the same rights. No one group of people should be favored more if everyone is created the same, and by law have the same rights and freedoms. No one person has more rights than another. No matter what is an individuals color, size, intellect, lifestyle, religion or ethnicity, he or she has the same rights as the next person.
Affirmative action was created 30 years ago for the cure of the underuse of minority and female and humane resources in the workplace. Affirmative action refers to active measures and passive non-discrimination as a means of increasing the recruitment of minorities and, ultimately, ensuring equa ...

Blacks Treated As Lower Class Citizens
... The first example that the black community has been treated as a lower-
class citizen was when they couldn't get a good education. "Besides, those doors
are always open to them…But most are deprived of education…This gets easier and
easier until she comes up with still another child to abort or support, But none
of this is 'Negro-ness'" (Griffin 92). This quote shows that the blacks were
deprived of an education, and a good education is usually a symbol of middle- or
higher- class citizen. "They are so close to their ancestors learned to read and
write at the risk of severe punishment, that learning is almost a sacred
privilege (Griffin 125)." This quote shows ...

Does Video Game Violence Affect Children?
... Sony
Playstation, and PC CD-ROM. The games I used were Mortal Kombat Trilogy (on
Nintendo 64), Mortal Kombat II (on Super Nintendo), Mortal Kombat (on Sega
Genesis), Killer Instinct Gold (on Nintendo 64), Power Rangers (on Sega Genesis),
Tomb Raider (on PC CD-ROM), and Bishouju Senshi Sayla Moon SuperS (on Japanese
Playstation).
The first step I used was gathering a group of children ages 8-10 years old (5
girls, and 5 boys), got their parents permission, and made sure they had no idea
there was an experiment taking place. The second step I took was observing the
children play together before being exposed to violent video games, I looked for
any sign of violent ...

Mothers In The Workplace
... No matter what the choice is, her
family will still respect her for her choice. Working and raising a child
is the best choice for a mother. Mothers who work, have less problems.
For one this means there are two incomes in the family and it also helps
with the pride of the mother. Another issue faced is the way a mother may
feel about a child going to a child care, in the long run she knows it is
the best. Mothers can find guidance if they are not able to find the steps
of how to deal with continuing to work. Mothers also know how important it
is, even if they work, to show love and want to be around their child(ren).
