To the uniformed Gulliver's Travels is just a humorous adventure, but it was written to expose the many problems with the British Society at the time. The culture Jonathan Swift lived in was not what one would call a utopia. The English culture of the late seventeenth century to the middle eight ....
Middle of essay ....blin. The next eleven years of his life were spent in what he considered exile. Despite Swift felt little joy or satisfaction being in Ireland, he did become involved with the Irish people and won their love. During this time of self imposed exile Swift came up with the idea and eventually wrote Gulliver's Travels. The many political views that Swift had acquired and his feeling of uselessness prompted him to write his famous novel. (source 7)
