Twain wanted to teach people that the color of a person’s skin had nothing to do with how that person should be treated and looked upon in life. Even though Jim was a Negro man, didn’t mean that he was an inferior or incompetent person. Twain showed how good of a person Jim really was even though the color of his skin was darker than what people excepted.
