Oso was old. The joints in her limbs were stiff, so she didn’t walk very fast. She had, during the last few years, become hard of hearing, and had to be summoned to her meals by the flicking of the porch lights, on and off, to get her attention. Yet, she just kept trucking along, happy as can b ....

....had just passed on that same month. I just did not realise the exact implications of it. I asked my mother to do what all mothers do best and explain (parents have all the answers).
My mother very cautiously explained, “Oso was old...and eventually when animals or people get older, their bodies stop working and they die. They no longer move around and their spirit goes to heaven, where we, on earth can’t see them until we get to heaven.”
