As tragic Heroes influenced by fate, Achilles and Oedipus both share a
fatal flaw that eventually leads to their demise, though there are also
numerous differences between their myths. No matter what these two heros
do, the choices and decisions that they make will lead to there downfall.

must also understand that Achilles is selfish and full of himself and could
care less about the forces of fate. He thought of himself as invincible.
In spite of the warning from his Mother, Achilles chooses to continue his
plan for revenge and certain death. Fate knew all along that Achilles ego
would take care of the rest.
In contrast to Achilles who charged boldly into his fate, Oedipus tries to
run away from his fate, but the outcome is the same.... |
