It brought them together in battle against a common foe and was a source of much resentment between the English government and the colonists. Middle of essay ....the early years of the war there were few British naval reinforcements. Because of this, the colonists had to handle the war mostly on their own. The British soldiers that were there were of little help because, even though they outnumbered the French, they were slow in receiving orders from Britain. The colonists lost their earlier feeling of being protected by the mother country. This lack of government support contributed to some of the anarchy created by the colonists.
