Swami Vivekananda was obviously opposed to India becoming a westernized nation. In his speech he draws a distinct line between India and the western world. Middle of essay ....e Vivekenanda also opposed western culture, but he was a bit extreme. Ghandi wanted the people of India to become fundamental and do away with all luxuries and material wealth because he believed that fighting those wants was the only way to true happiness and to become content with ones life. Through his methods passive resistance Ghandi and his followers after many years of protest got the British to retreat and return India to its native people.
