Then there are the hospital fees for the actual childbirth, not to mention the costs for any complications that might arise. "Adolescents often receive inadequate prenatal care and give birth to approximately 50,000 low birthweight babies each year."2 These complications can lead to physical as well as emotional stress on the mother.
