Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven: An Analysis
Beginning of essay
Edgar Allen Poe was an incredible writer. In “The Raven” Poe uses
the word “Nevermore” spoken by the raven in the story to show the reader
agony and denial of reality that is being experienced by the student in the
story. In this paper I am going to depict the meanings of the word “
nevermore” b ....

old crazy man the word didn’t help him escape his agony so it’s not going
to help him.
In the fifth instance “nevermore” is used in Poe stages the student
in an imaginative state. He sees the raven as “grim, ghastly, gaunt, and
ominous”. This is the student’s imagination overtaking his logic. “
Nevermore” is said by the raven to tell the student that one cannot live
out of reality forever.
