As You Like It: Grow Up, Oliver!
Beginning of essay
In Shakespeare's As You Like It, many of the characters undergo
changes. I believe that Oliver, the older brother of Orlando, is envious
of his younger sibling. Jealous of Orlando's popularity, Oliver spends
much of his time contemplating on how he can destroy his brother. After
Orlando saves Ol ....
Middle of essay ....am altogether/ misprized" (1.2.163-8). After reading this quote
about Orlando, it is clear that Oliver feels sorry for himself because he
was not given all of the same advantages of his brother. He feels
inferior to his younger sibling and that is what is making these unheard
of thoughts enter his mind. To show that Oliver is not as callous as he
may seem, Shakespeare transforms him into a good guy by the end of the
play.
