America claims to be accepting of other cultures. We all have
equal liberties; it even says so in our Constitution. Yet in the 1870’s,
the United States of America did the antithesis. The destruction of Native
American Cultures was intentionally and systematically carried out by
greedy opportun ....
Middle of essay .... the day were well meaning, but very
ignorant. They saw the Allotment Act as a way to give Indians land. To
them, the boarding schools were seen as a positive way to assimilate the
Indian children to modern American culture. They did not foresee the
consequences of these decisions.
Opportunists, government officials, and social reformers all were
responsible for the destruction of Native American culture. Even today, we
still have endless disputes with Indians that were seeded in the 1870’s.... |
