The Prophecy predicted was right on target the whole time. Although Oedipus tried to save his stepfather from the Oracles prediction he became entangled in his doom. There is no way he could have avoided the foretold. Although Oedipus tries desperately to change his destiny he instead plummets headfirst into it. The prophecies come true through all circumstances.
