Middle of essay ....he consulship was shared between Antony and Caesar. In 43 B.C. Antony insisted that Cicero, who was a Roman Statesman and writer be killed, because he supported Octavian. On the seventh of December Cicero was murdered. Cicero was one of the first of 300 senators that are said to have been killed during this time period. Then in 42 B.C., the senate passed a law that declared Julius Caesar a god. This helped Octavian because he used Caesar’s name. He could then call himself “divi filius”.... |
