Juliette Low founded an organization in 1912 and named it Girl Scouts. General Sir Robert Baden-Powell, a British military hero inspired her to start the organization. When he started the Boy Scouts, 6,000 girls registered as well. Girl Scouts was originally called Girl Guides. The first two Girl Guide troops were started in London.
