Creative Writing: The End Of Grendel
... and head on table.
I found a quiet place near the window of the mead-hall. There I would sleep with a napkin as my pillow. The stars and moon shown so bright that it made it hard to sleep. Even when I closed my eyes the sound of a random man’s snore would jolt me awake. I thought it was hopeless to even attempt to fall asleep, therefore I gazed up at the sky, hoping I would tune out the dreadful noises of drunken men.
A shadow crossed my face, blocking the stars glow. A sudden rush of fear went through my body. Just when I leapt to my feet to see what was outside the door to the mead-hall opened. My jaw fell to the ground when I saw a devilish monster standing w ...

Creative Story: Lycanthrope
... I received an overseas long-
distance call from Africa.
It was Lyle, calling to see how I'd been, what I was doing, that sort of
thing. Then suddenly his voice took on a more serious tone.
"Niles, you have to come here. I may need your help."
"What is it, Lyle? What's wrong?"
"I can't tell you over the phone." He whispered. "It's too important.
You have to be here."
"In Africa?" I said in disbelief.
"Yes, here. It's that important."
"But Lyle--"
"I'm an animal over here!" He hissed into the phone. "I can't tell you
any more. I don't dare. Please, Niles, don't tell anyone what happens when you
get here, or anything about this phone call. It means ...

My Life In Vietnam And The Move To The United States
... we were going to move to the United States of America, and I developed a strong feeling that my life soon would change forever.
After spending nine years in Vietnam, our family moved to a totally different environment. This I knew would be my toughest challenge to date. As a third grader attending a new elementary school in a new country, I felt left out because of my inability to communicate and adapt with the environment. Some kids assumed that I did not understand them at all, so they made rude remarks about me and my race. I understood them, maybe not completely, but I knew the intent of their messages. All that I had was my Apple II computer at which I j ...

Personal Writing: Good Art
... watch a movie and that is when I saw the best movie I have ever seen in
my life. We watched a movie called Scream. It was a movie that had
recently come out of the theaters and was now on video cassette. I didn’t
go see it in the theater, but I heard that it was a pretty cool movie. We
sat there and watched it and when it was done I was in awe. All I could
say was “that is the best movie in history!”
In my mind, the movie was perfect. It was full of everything that
I like in a movie. It had mystery, suspense, and most of all it was a
thriller. I got to try to figure out who the killer was and as it turned
out, there was actually two killers which made i ...

Nowhere, Kansas
... broke down completely. This nice lady gave us a ride into the town, which was about three blocks long, and that’s where we were, waiting for the outcome.
A middle-aged, tall man with dark hair, and a thin mustache walked by us, as to get our attention. This skinny man with his apron tied around his small waste started to bustle around picking up a few boxes, “Sorry about the mess,” he replied, in a strong southern accent “just a few days ago we met head on with a twister.”
I looked at my cousin with a slight smirk on my face. I knew we were thinking the same thing, “that was rather ironic.” I turned to the worker and replied, “it was no inconvenience to us.”

Employee Theft At Staples
... Staples in the past, but this was the first time I’d ever witnessed it first hand. The day before, Rich and I had a conversation about it. “We’re the only ones who don’t steal,” he said. And I knew we were.
Over the course of the next few weeks, I watched loads of equipment leave the store. Three Palm Vs were now in Martin’s possession, Jesse made off with some RAM, Doug robbed some hard drives, and Jason even pilfered a laptop. Most of the guys claimed that the lack of proper wages justified the theft. “After all,” Doug said one day, “All we’re doing is stealing from Staples what they owe us anyway.” I was scared. Was there a chance of losing my job if I didn’t r ...

Hades
... just pay for more jobs and give them
to homeless people. People wouldn't have to pay for taxes because Hades
would. People wouldn't have to pay for electricity because Hades would.
He is so rich because he has all these precious metals and gold. He has a
gold chariot that he and Penelope would ride in so people would know it was
him.
Hades can have his pet Cerberus, a three-headed dragon tailed dog,
guard the nations money and other stuff that might need to be guarded. So
if anyone tries to rob it, they won't be able to get through.
And for all the people who can't afford an education, Hades will pay
for it so everybody is qualified for a job. ...

Personal Writing: My Tutoring Job
... several algebra problems for practice, but he did them all wrong. I thought I knew how to teach him since the material was so simple for me, but apparently, I did not know how to explain the material in the way that he would have understood.
I started to criticize myself. I realized that even though algebra was so easy for me, it did not mean that he understood the material, too. So I figured out a new way of tutoring, which became more efficient later. I went through every problem with him, step by step, and corrected the errors he made. I read the textbook before teaching him so that I was well prepared to tutor him. He started to ask questions, and I ans ...

Creative Writing: A Slice Of Life
... do you think we live in this shed?" "Well I guess I will
just come back later" Tony said with a strange look on his face.
"Tim! Wakeup! " Gwen yelled. "Huh?" Tim replied. "Wakeup!," she yelled
back. "Oh, OK" Tim yelled back. "That boy, Tony came by, looking for you, he
thought we had a phone." Tim said chuckling. "You didn't tell him that we
don't have a phone or the other stuff did you?!" Gwen yelled. "Um, well kinda
yeah, why?" Tim questioned. " Why?" she yelled and stormed off. Gwen was the
type of girl who didn't care what people thought of her, but she didn't like it
when people would find out that she was poor. She had blonde hair, and was very
thin. S ...
