Personal Writing: Why I Need A Car
... with
transportation because the buses hardly ever come, it's far away from
everything, and the weather is terrible. The buses come every hour on
weekdays and only three times on Sundays. I have complained before, but
they don't care to what I have to say. Even when the buses come they are
always late because the routes are convoluted. It takes hours to get
anywhere. The closest commercial area to my house is Park Royal and that
is a two hour walk away. There are no small stores and if I want milk, the
closest store is in North Vancouver, would you believe. I guess they
expect everyone to be so rich, so they can afford a car for every member in
the family (th ...

Creative Writing: John Griffith Biography
... and adventurous life, so I
thought. Jobs were hard to find but I was employed by the fish patrol in San
Francisco Bay. Imagine hopping on every boat that pulls into the bay and
counting the number of fish on board and having to write fines to the sailors
that had too many fish. This sure wasn't a popular job in the bay area. I was
smart enough to figure I could be on the other side of the law and rob and steal
vessels so I became an oyster pirate.
I had a real passion for the sea and so in 1893 I took a job as a common
sailor aboard a sealing vessel that ventured as far as Japan. This lasted about
a year. When I returned back to the bay area I dri ...

Creative Writing: A Grim Conclusion
... in front of him. The man looked as though he had just crawled out
of a dumpster. He wore a tattered black suit that sported several layers
of dried mud and grease. It looked as if he were in his early twenties.
"Sorry to wake you," the man said. "But may I sit beside you. I need a
rest, and this is the best seat in the park."
The old man hesitated slightly and forced a friendly smile, "Of course." He
paused as the man sat down, "Do you have a name, son?"
The man smiled, "My friends call me Stan. And you...?"
"Gregory McFinnly." He shook Stan’s hand firmly and suppressed a yawn.
"Its a beautiful morning."
Stan nodded and turned to face the su ...

Their Common Enemy
... talk about paying their mortgage they seem to
compromise and have a healthy conversation. Usually when they talk about other
important issues, they end up arguing because Willy has a short temper. "You
shouldn't have criticized him, Willy, especially after he just got off the train.
You mustn't lose your temper with him (15)." Willy has no shame because he will
talk about anyone and not care. Talking about their mortgage helps them to stay
together by agreeing with one another. Whenever the topic comes up, their moods
totally change and even though they might not know it; they act as if paying
their mortgage is their favorite thing to discuss.

Personal Writing: What I Learned This Semester In English Class
... were good because of the grades I got. Now, I find myself working
over twice as hard for half the grade.
This isn't a completely bad thing, though. It teaches me that my writing really
wasn't very good. What I used to think deserved an "A" I now realize only does
deserve a "C." Now I have to take my writing more seriously, and try much
harder at producing good output. Also, my goal isn't to write a paper that will
get a good grade. Now, my goal is to write better papers. I write to become a
better writer.
That is, I feel, a very important thing that I learned this semester. I don't
think, "O.K., I have to get at least a B on this paper." Instead, I thi ...

Creative Story: Lobito
... him back he tends to pull and yank hard,
and almost say “let me at him”. The funny part is when we actually do let him go,
he's surprised we let him go , and gives us this look like hey hold me back!
Another thing that goes along with his fighting techniques, are his day dream
desires of being a security dog. We have this one dog named Pinto that Lobito
hates with all his heart. Being that Pinto is alot older and bigger than Lobbito
, Lobito never dares raise a bark at Pinto. But don't ever tell Pinto to go
outside the house, because as soon as Lobito hears the words “Pinto outside”,
hell breaks loose. Lobito will come tearing around the corner like if he heard

Personal Writing: Affectiveness In Communication
... than using
the hard facts. For example, if an accident occurred and she saw it; she
would say the person who she thought caused the accident was at fault.
Instead of getting all of the facts before saying any thing about who
caused the accident. Sometimes she just jumps to the wrong conculsion
without thinking about what the situation is.
Next, my mother’s attitude also played a major part in the way that
she communicates. She is also an assertive person because she is alway
confident about things. My mother also makes assumptions of other people
without adding all the fact. I also observed that she sometimes uses non-
verbal communication skills to substitute ...

My Battle
... to raise my grade in a class, I might get help from my teacher at lunch, or I might just spend extra study time on that subject. Also, I could get better at basketball by staying after practice and working on my weaknesses. I will do anything to improve.
Self-discipline is another key in my goal to achieve. Self-discipline is a matter of how hard I am willing to work when no one else is watching or grading me. I must discipline myself to keep my focus and maintain a positive outlook that is sometimes difficult in the life of a teenager. I determine my performance by my attitude. No one ever gets anywhere by being negative. I also make sure that I invol ...

My First Job At Buzzy's Diner
... pattern of random gray lines
that looks like shattered glass. The seats for the tables are dark wooden
benches, many of them are dented and scratched from their years of use. In one
corner there is an ancient cigarette machine (the kind with levers you have to
pull to get your cigarettes) and an old fashioned penny gumball machine.
The walls of the room are divided horizontally by molding. The bottom
four feet of the walls consist of wood paneling that matches the benches. The
top half is covered with an ugly brown wallpaper that reminds me of the
wallpaper in my grandmother's house. The wallpaper usually goes unnoticed
because most of it is covered up with oth ...

The Old Lady Next Door
... metal, you might not even think that it was a car. In fact, you might even be tempted to take the big heap of blue and white trash away to the recycling center. All the paint is falling off; the wheels are made of soft rubber that go flat when you sit in the car. The inside smells like someone died. I don’t even think that she’s ever washed anything in there. When looking inside, you see more garbage than you could ever find in any garbage dump. The seats are all torn up inside, as if she let a wild cat run through her car and tear it up. If you listen very closely you can hear little scratching noises. I think that it’s from the mice and rodents inside the ...
