Personal Essay: Classroom Observation
... from the fire drill. This gave us time to look around. The
kindergarten room was brightly decorated with lots of posters and student's art
work. The kids were working on colors because there was a strip on top of the
blackboard that had the colors and things we might see in that color. The
student's desks were arranged in two rows, pushed together and facing each other.
There were about twelve seats in each group, so there were about 24 students in
the class. Apparently, the class had just been returning from a trip to the
school library when the fire drill went off, so when they came in they were
still carrying their library books. The students were ask ...

Creative Writing: "My House"
... designed is all I imagined and more. It is a four story
dream on a huge fifteen acre lot. As I approach the stairs at the entrance to
the house I am surrounded by four columns leading to the most elegant doors I
have ever seen. They are made of mahogany and have a stained glass window in
the center. The handles and the frame is made of brass. As I continue around
the house I come across three windows overlooking the entrance to the house.
There are black shutters on each window. As the porch continues to the south
side of the house I am now looking over the Pacific Ocean. A huge eight foot
picture is facing the same way I am. As I look down and observe the ...

Catcher In The Rye - A Sequel
... Well Mr.Spencer
teaches at a prep school and. I didn't let them finish the sentence. “NO!” I
exclaimed. I refuse to go to one of those prep schools, all of the little kids
are phonies. But then as abruptly as that little conversation started, it ended.
They said, “You are going come Saturday and you can't do a thing about it.”
So then they say, “We will get you a train ticket for the earliest train
out of Central Station.” I stormed out, knowing that I was defenseless against
them I went straight into my room and packed, thinking of ways to get back at
them. I thought then I realized that I shouldn't even bother wasting my time, I
knew that it would be a sm ...

The Written Word Lives On
... Family without friends never provided me
with enough company. Taking a walk with the dark elf Drizzt through the
shadowed halls of his city Menzobaeren inspired confidence in me even in the
solitude of a Hawaiian vacation. Calling reading just a hobby then does it
injustice. Adventure fits it more appropriately. Books sweep me into the
depths of imagination and let me share another persons dream while helping me
see mine. Piers Anthony taking me through his spellbinding Juxtaposition opened
my mind and revealed his dreams. I have held my grip on the exhilaration that
brought me. I never feel as complete as when I visit another book. The
ceaseless joy ...

My Lost Love
... the same
school I attended. We found that we had six out of seven classes together,
which was a very good thing. I asked her to go out with me that Friday
night. We went to the movies first, and then we went to Vinnie Vicci's
Italian restaurant. The date was perfect and the person I was with made the
date seem like Heaven. We dated non-exclusively for about one month. On
our one month anniversary, I gave her my letter jacket which I earned
playing varsity football. And while I did that, I asked her to date
exclusively. She answered my question so fast I didn't realize that she
said yes. We started going out together almost every weekend and talked on
the phone a ...

Personal Writing: My Poor House
... members and
friends, which hung neatly in their fancy wooden frames. The fibers of the
recently vacuumed carpet stood at attention displaying how clean they were.
The varnished oak coffee-table glistened as the moonlight shined through
the crystal clear window reflecting off its soft glossy finish. All the
furniture was aligned perfectly with the symmetry of the room, like a life
size geometry proof. My mother's knickknacks were arranged neatly in their
proper order on top of the entertainment center. All of our CD's and tapes
were put away in their correct spots behind the clear glass door of the
entertainment center. The kitchen table was clear of clutter, ...

Creative Writing: A Medical Experience
... So, realizing the fact that her doctor was probably
asleep, she did the next logical step, she called her daughter, who lives in
another state. The daughter realized that her mother needed more help than she
could give over the phone, tried to persuade the mother to call an ambulance,
which, of course, the mother refused to do, stating that it wasn't necessary.
The daughter then took it upon herself to call EMS from her own house.
The medics were notified of the problem through the usual method, a
series of tones over a radio that cause a loud horn to blare and all the station
lights to come on, much to the annoyance of the fire lieutenant. This alarm was

Creative Play: A Royal Life
... pots, new dyes to make everything around very pretty. This is a
very enjoyable time for me.
JADIE: Yes, Yes, how true. Especially the pretty things. Our
dresses are brightly colored and extremely detailed, as that was the
movement in fashion of our time. These things are very expensive and only
royalty such as ourselves can afford such a luxury.
LAUREN: Say, do you know what's for dinner tonight?
JADIE: Silly girl! Its what we have every night in the castle
Ingvey, Everything! A feast of huge proportions. Bread, cheese, meat,
fish, vegetables… all made fresh by the peasants this morning. Yes, what a
glorious time to live.
LAUREN: And you people (looki ...

Difficulty In Making An Important Decision
... a job to provide a means for supporting my family while retraining, I
might not do a sufficient job of retraining for a new career. Another
difficulty equally as important as the the financial one was the possibility
of failing at a new endeavor or not being able to find a new job. These
possibilities made me feel uncomfortable and insecure. If I failed or could
not find a new position, what would my family think of me? Failing at a new
career would also cause me to lose confidence in myself. These concerns,
failure and financial, and not finding a new job made this decision very
difficult.
The decision to choose a new career was an extremely important ...

Cinncinnati: Loveland: Paxton Woods
... the newly victorious American government declared the territory available for settlement. Ohio and all points west had nothing more to offer settlers than opportunity, although that was plenty to entice explorers, range rovers and wide-eyed gamblers looking for a chance to strike it rich in real estate.
The westward movement began, and it didn’t take long for people to find the area that would become Cincinnati. Because of its rich soil and abundance of rivers, which were vital to the transportation and livelihood of the day, settlers started arriving by 1788. Most of the city’s early settlers arrived by putting several weeks worth of food and their life’s posses ...
