Welfare: Toil And Trouble
... who are on welfare have
become used to it, and instead of using the money and aid to stay alive while
they look for a job, they are sitting at home waiting by the mailbox for the
next check to come in. In the meantime, many mothers are having more kids,
because-more kids, more welfare money. These women relish the thought of
getting free money in the mail-for doing absolutely nothing.
Welfare is destroying out culture. Many argue that welfare is necessary
for many families, and that it must not be cut. Some argue that it is giving
starving families the boost they need to make it one more year. This is only
partially true. Yes, we need welfare, but we als ...

Feminism
... The
goals' main objective was marriage before a person reached her twenties
and right after education stopped. This playing an important role in
constructivism--to borrow a generally recognizable label for convenience
sake. (Richard A. Rogers, "Constructivism, Feminism and Nature: Does
Language Have to In-Form?") It was convenient for a woman to have no
education, but be attractive and get married at a young age. A man to
take care of their needs, but did they really?
With that question, I bring about the topic of feminism. Were
women totally unparalell then with today's working woman? A question
often asked, but never really dissolved. My poi ...

The Advantages Of Stupidity
... sensitive people. If one acts stupid, and
does it in the wrong crowd, like a group of adults, it will seem more
immature than funny. If one is forced to act stupid while dealing with
lower life forms, for example, high school teachers, one may encounter
barriers such as cruelty and insensitivity, with the utterance of
statements like, "Think with your head straight!" or, "You have a brain,
use it." Yet these are all true, there are still many advantages to
stupidity.
The first advantage is very easy to understand. Stupid people are
never asked to do a lot. Many have noticed that people tend to steer away
from someone they feel may be stupid. This is for a very ...

Should Adopted Children Be Allowed To Locate Their Biological Parents?
... a
few months or more of your life trying to locate these people only to have a
door shut in your face? How would you feel if that were to happen? The chances
of this happening are pretty good. Yes, there are happy reunions on talk shows
that turn out for the better, but that is not always the reality. These people
gave up their birth rights many years ago and should not go back on that. They
have moved on with their lives and might not want to be reminded what could have
been. So many hurt feelings and feelings of guilt could come flying back and
then put more of a burden on both of your lives.
There is another factor to think about in this situation. How is your ...

African American Vs. Caucasian Americans
... in groups they are very loud and take over the area that they
occupy. On the other hand when you see Caucasians they are rarely in groups of
three or more. To top it off when someone in one of their groups gets in trouble
the rest of the group is nowhere to be found. Most times when you see young
Caucasian people in a group they are for the most part within a normal speaking
level. These two groups tend to act differently in the public due to their
cultural differences. There are a number of differences between the churches of
African Americans and Caucasians. At most typical African American churches
there are no true sermons. The African American churches tend to ...

Won't Libertarian Socialism Destroy Individuality?
... capitalism has reduced individuality to a parody of what it could be (see section I.7.4). As Affie Kohn points out, "our miserable individuality is screwed to the back of our cars in the form of personalized license plates."
So we see a system which is apparently based on "egoism" and "individuality" but whose members are free to expand as standardized individuals, who hardly express their individuality at all. Far from increasing individuality, capitalism standardizes it and so restricts it - that it survives at all is more an expression of the strength of humanity than any benefits of the capitalist system. This impoverishment of individuality is hardly surprisi ...

Gangs: Until There's An Answer
... Times printed one response to the shooting written by two
emergency physicians, H. Range Hutson MD, and Deirdre Anglin MD, who were
deeply saddened by the shooting.
The strongest argument presented in the letter written by Hutson
and Anglin was that unless the root causes of gang formation are
effectively addressed, and gang access to illegally obtained firearms is
nullified, gang violence will continue. The claim was presented in such a
fashion that, while based on widely accepted ideas, an appeal to the
emotions through sympathy for the injured children was also applied. To
justify their claim, statistics such as 28 children under the age of 10
were murdered ...

Censorship Of Books: Freedom Of What?
... go ballistic. Many try to get rid of it before they have
even taken the time to read it. If a parent feels that certain material is
inappropriate for children to see, then they shouldn't let their chi ldren
read it, but they shouldn't be able to decide what their neighbor's child
should and should not read. That would clearly violate our first amendment
right. The first amendment, in part states that Americans have freedom of
the press (to publish any material they want.) This also means that we can
access any of these materials. It doesn't mean we have the freedom to
control what others access, that would be referred to as communism.

Native American Virtues
... Among other survival skills, Squanto taught them to plant and harvest crops in soil foreign to the settlers, how to hunt animals with the most protein (to get maximum energy from the food), and how to build shelter and clothing necessary to endure the harsh climate of what's presently Massachusetts. The very act of the Natives caretaking for the settlers created the possibility of the Indian Nations' downfall. If the the settlers weren't given food and friendship, they surely would've died off and Indians would have been free to continue their successful way of life.
Many Indians lived by a strict code of conduct. Though the specifics varied because o ...

Prejudice
... a very terrible thing that happened in America's past. Yet there are still some racist people who believe that the blacks should still be property or are less of a human. What are they thinking? Can they not realize that they are humans just like you and I? Since slavery, there have been all kinds of attempts to curve and abolish it; but as long as people are still here, it's impossible.
One way that America tried to stop was an act called Affirmative Action. Not only did it not work, but also it is a form of all by itself. Affirmative Action is a quota for job employment and also for school acceptance, especially the acceptance in to colleges. It states tha ...
