Three Values Every Child Should Learn
... others without showing them respect. People need to treat each other with respect and love. The Bible commands that a person treat others the way he wants to be treated. Children must be shown how to show respect to other people so they can receive that respect.
Another important value children learn from their parents is to be independent. Children who are not taught independence will have both social and emotional problems later in life. Every person needs to understand how important it is to be an individual and take care of themselves. When children are young, they are constantly taken care of. They are feed when hungry, bathed when dirty and entertai ...

Feminism And Gender Equality In The 1990's
... The Way We Were - 1949. She dealt with a society that expected
women to fulfill certain roles. Those roles completely disregarded the
needs of educated and motivated business women and scientific women.
Actually, the subtle message that society gave was that the educated woman
was actually selfish and evil.
I remember in particular the searing effect on me, who once intended to be
a psychologist, of a story in McCall's in December 1949 called "A Weekend
with Daddy." A little girl who lives a lonely life with her mother,
divorced, an intellectual know-it-all psychologist, goes to the country to
spend a weekend with her father and his new wife, who is wholesome, ...

Women And Society's "Glass Walls"
... a woman's life, education plays a major role, the fact that most university activities relate to male students, may cause many women to loose interest in education and extracurricular activities. The Sadkers imply that financial distribution of resources points to male dominance because the male-oriented activities and clubs receive a substantially larger portion of the university funding. The interest in male sports and profit made by the university allow male athletics to acquire nearly half of the university funding. Extended funding allows the fields of male athletics to be more "luxurious" with options for its members; thus, much interest is lost in female a ...

Comparing Americans And Filipinos
... million Filipino Americans in the United States. A majority of them are living in California, with smaller populations in New Jersey, Hawaii, Illinois, and New York. I, myself, am a Filipino American.
The language of the Philippines is very different from the United States. There is an assortment of languages spoken between the Philippines and the United States. English is the main language in the United States and is spoken by a majority of the U.S. residents. However, approximately 54% speak Spanish, making Spanish the second most widely spoken language in the United States. In the Philippines, Tagalog is the main and national language there. This language ...

Creating A Culture Of Peace
... Peace is obviously something we can have that will satisfy
everyone, but it is something that we can always work on and improve.
The ways in which we can improve our culture can be much easier to
understand when we break down everyone’s definition of peace into separate
points. By doing this we can specifically improve each aspect and in the
long run we will have created a much more peaceful society.
The first aspect of peace is the spirit peace, which reflects how
we feel about ourselves and how we treat others. Peace is to smile at the
world, taking good care of the animals, the trees, the lakes, and being
aware of the environment. When we understand nature ...

The Power Of Persuasion
... will be seen in. Product advertisements aired on television are designed to stimulate two primary senses, site and sound, as opposed to a radio ad that focuses on just sound. With the internet and billboards just to the eyes.
In television commercials numerous marketing techniques are utilized to create visual and sound appeal to consumers. The benefit of television advertising is the combination of site and sound, being able to see that beautiful woman drink that soda and hearing her reaction is why televisions advertising are so successful. Companies use popular and appealing people in most commercials such as, models, movie or television stars, and even ...

The Right To Life
... travel elsewhere to have it "preformed"
so she went to court. On January 22, 1973 the Supreme Court said that it was
legal for any woman to have an abortion and terminate her pregnancy at any given
time. The Roman Catholic Church has said that abortion is murder and violates
all terms of human morality. My personal opinion lays between that of the Roman
Catholic Church and the Supreme Court. I believe that a woman should have the
right to an abortion only if she was raped and can not afford to have the child,
or if she does not know who the father is. If the woman just want's to have an
abortion for no reason, believes that the baby will be born with a handicap, ...

Television Violence
... might think this is too much for children to see. Also, if you look at how it is depicted and the degree of violence it shows, it could be a very bad influence on children or anyone for that matter. In my opinion, NBC did not do a good job in responsibly showing the violent acts during its prime time hours.
The first show I viewed was Seinfeld at 6:30 p.m. Of all the shows viewed over the course of the night Seinfeld had the most acts of violence in its half-hour programming. There were a total of five acts of violence, which included tripping and hitting people with a cane, verbal threats, and physical slapping with hands. All these actions were meant to ...

Sex In Black, White And Mulatto
... this time protecting
female slaves against the sexual advances of their masters.1 Slave owners
then had the opportunity to take advantage of their slaves without having
to worry of prosecution. Without laws that would allow these enslaved women
to resist, there is a presumption then that they were always willing to
oblige to their master's requests for sex.2 This, of course, is not true.
Not all slave women were so compelled to give into their owner's demands.
For some slaves the only way they could resist the advances of an
oncoming sexual predator was through resistance. Such an example is Jermain
Loguen's mother. When attacked, "she picked up a stick and ...

Interpersonal Communication
... is not interpersonal if it involves too many people. When the
number of people exceeds a certain amount it is no longer interpersonal
communication,it then becomes mass communication. In my definition it is vital
that feed-back be given to the person that is doing the communicating. When
feedback is not present then the lines of communication break down and then
there is no communication at all. Even if the message is perceived wrong
interpersonal communication still exists as long as the feedback is given. For
example: when you talk to someone that is hard of hearing and you ask them to do
something and they hear you say something other ...
