The 1930s
... have a lot to drink.
Men would work all day for fifty cents, and for their meals. Also,
a lot of men had to use the Workers Progress Association to get enough
money for them and their families to survive.
Cars in the 1930's were much different than the cars today. Hand
cranks were replaced with electric starters. Heaters were factory
installed to replace mainfold heaters that were available for owner
installation. Those who did not have heaters put hot coals under their car
to get the oil warm before they went into town. In the 30's larger tires
with safety tubes were developed, and carried less air pressure compared to
the old narrow, solid rubber tires whi ...

Clan-X
... We liked to
blow up people's letter boxes the most, usually just at random. Whenever
any new kids came to our school, we used to tease and make fun of them, so
they felt unwelcome and had no friends. Usually they left the school, we
loved it when they did that. Anyway, back to the story... On Friday
afternoon, just after school, we were all walking home talking about how
much of a loser this new guy was. By the time we got to the end of the
street, we had all agreed that we should do something totally outrageous to
his cat because he had been bragging about it all week. On Saturday, we
all met up at the local park and brought along little tools which we

Personal Writing: Fragment - Changes In Life
... today" because most of the time it's usually
funny and it isn't really considered anything serious. Some happenings in
our lives are very serious and aren't as easy to talk about with others.
Even though this is true it does help the person feel better to talk about
their problems whether they realize it at first or not. Changes in life
like these can change you both physically and mentally for the rest of your
life depending on the severity of the situation.
In early August of `96 my life at home became a living nightmare. I
don't really know what it was that started this thing between me and my
parents but I do remember that they were always doing anythin ...

Creative Writing: A Dream Come True
... senses. I didn't understand what I dreamt about. After thinking
about the dream for about ten minutes a went back to sleep.
By next morning I had forgotten all about the dream. That morning , I
was late as usual. I ran to the bus stop with my briefcase. My tie flew in the
morning wind. Only thing that I hoped was that I would not be late to work, I
had been warned couple of times about me being late. Luckily the bus too was
late as usual.
As I was boarding the bus I looked up for a vacant seat. What I saw then
was quite unbelievable. Instead of looking for an empty seat I was perving on a
beautiful woman. She looked to be in her early 20s. The most outstanding f ...

Personal Writing: Our Trip To See The Band "Last One Standing"
... A sigh of relief passed through the car as
we came into Burlington. Justin dropped me off at my house in Burlington at
four o'clock, a few hours before his show started. I made my plans with them
for later and sent them on their way. Something about being home makes me feel
much more relaxed. Walking into your house and immediately recognizing that
perfect smell of freshness (my mom keeps a clean house), flopping yourself onto
your comfortable bed, now this is what makes me feel at peace.I was relieved to
be home, knowing that I was going to see Kristie,a friend of mine that I'm
quite fond of.
A few hours slipped by with no significant happenings. I was r ...

Descriptive Essay
... hesitantly say something to me, but doesn’t. She watches attentively as the four men, who are appropriately suited in black trousers with brilliantly colored brass buttons, gently lift the coffin from the hull in the back of the vehicle. The hearse rises an inch or so above the tires, due to the strenuous weight of the beautiful silver coffin. A faint shiver whips through the chilled wind as the frozen handles of the coffin are reluctantly grasped by the eight men in black trousers with brilliant brass buttons. I watch without blinking, as the mysterious woman fallows the men in rhythmic step towards the grave yard. Sounds of marching and bristling leaves pa ...

Hopeful Encounter
... of
any life.
Night set in, the stars were obscured by thick blankets of smoke. The
day was done. Stores got ready to lock up and street lights were turned on
to aid the bread winners, so they may travel safely. Few were fortunate
enough to own automobiles so they could avoid the cold dangerous streets
and dark alleyways. Most shops were already abandoned, finished for the
day. Yet few doors were still open, desperate for any last minute
customers. One such shopkeeper was Phil Anderson. Anderson had worked as
a pharmacist for most of his life. At forty, he had little to show for.
The pollution that caused the gradual decay of the city had had negative ...

Personal Writing: A Terrible Time
... to the gutter. In the gutter I suddenly heard BAM!
That was when we hit the first tree. Some how we spun around the gutter
again and hit me side once more. The door cracked like a egg and the hash
rain began beating on my no tender skin.
I had not even noticed that my nose had been broken when the air
bag inflated. My mom had noticed that my nose was bleeding and called out
half dazed, “Albert get out now the car is going to explode!” Now I had
been to shocked to really get scared but when I heard those words fear
crawled down my neck like a spider. I looked at my door and that is when I
got really scared in the crash it had been ruined so badly you couldn’t

Going To The Beach
... city,
with its intense traffic and polluted air, with its endless problems, union with
nature seemed to us the most worthwhile way to relax.
Getting prepared for the trip already made me excited. It was very
important not to forget anything. Finally, when all preparations were made, and
the cars loaded up, we, following our chosen route, dreamed of our coming
adventures. On that particular vacation, we had chosen a place named Blue Lakes.
It was really a place of wildlife. In the summer, the forest was
beautiful. It burst into leaves and needles, and abounded with mushrooms and
berries. The unbelievable silence was sometimes interrupted only by birds and
insects. ...
